In this session, participants will learn how to analyze, unpack and use DC ELS Standard 15-Demonstrates Knowledge of Numbers and Counting. Numbers and counting are a crucial part of a young child's growing mathematical understanding. These early math concepts build a foundation for more complex mathematical processes in the future. During this session, participants will engage in hands-on experiences designed to help them integrate the DC ELS into their teaching practices and promote developmentally appropriate mathematical thinking and reasoning. Participants will increase their understanding of how young children learn mathematics and identify ways to develop early learner’s number sense and flexibility around numbers and counting.
