Description: 

In this session, participants will learn how to analyze, unpack and use DC ELS Standard 8 – using conversational and other social communication skills. Participants will learn to define social communication and discuss its importance from infancy through pre-K. Participants will also explore how to use the DC ELS to ensure that the experiences they plan focus on both nonverbal (e.g., eye gaze, gestures) and verbal (e.g., speech, vocabulary, grammar) communication to engage in conversation and social interaction in the classroom.

  • Early childhood - middle (36-60 months)
