Description: 

This interactive session will continue the focus on the building blocks of emergent literacy, highlighting the development of story awareness, effective use of story stretchers and recognizing the stages of writing development. The trainer will highlight the connection between oral language, story awareness and emergent writing. The power of using flannel board stories, scissor stories and narration of real-life events to inspire storytelling and writing will be demonstrated. Participants will learn how to use an informal scale to estimate a child’s level of writing skill and how to support each child as a writer.
