Description:

Play contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of early learners. As children play, they construct meaning of the world around them and learn to interact and collaborate with others. Play is such a key factor in a child’s development that the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights named play as a right of every child. During this interactive session, educators will learn tips on how to observe and assess children’s development through free play and explore the importance of play in implementing the DC Early Learning Standards.

This course addresses the following age band(s):

  • Early childhood - middle (36-60 months)
  • Early childhood - late (5-8 years)
